Delivery: 12 hours
Purpose and Objective:
This program is intended for all employees working full and part-time, in a surface mining operation such as a pit, quarry where metallic or non-metallic rock, mineral bearing substance, earth, clay, sand or gravel that have or are being removed by means of an excavation open to the surface to supply material for construction, industrial, or ma nufacturing purposes.
Learning Objective:
Participants will complete the first three modules of the Surface Miner Common Core as set out by the MTCU – Workplace Support Services Branch.
U5030 – Work Safely in the Job Environment
U5031- Lock Out and Tag Equipment and Energy
U5032 – Operate Hand and Power Tools
This is a two part Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities {MTCU) competency based course. For participants to becbme fully accredited by the MTCU under the Surface Miner Program, individuals must return to their workplace and demonstrate their skills and their understanding of the company’s specific requirements to a qualified trainer and be signed off and registered with the MTCU by their company’s signing authority (SA). This must be completed within 12 months.
